This workshop will help students to develop the mind and skill set required to make compelling paintings from observation without manipulating or setting up the subject.
We will work through the process of making a painting using the spaces of the studio building and nearby cityscape as our subject.
The major topics of the course will be simplifying overwhelming complexity, creating space through drawing and color, creating a sense of light through color/value interpretation and understanding the interaction between 3-dimensional description and 2-dimensional design.
