In this condensed, one-day demonstration and hands-on teaching workshop, eastern
Washington artist Todd Telander will elucidate the principles of creating an oil painting with
depth, space, and atmosphere. Working with a limited palette, we will simplify the painting
process to focus on simple, effective composition, color harmony, and creating a sense of depth on the canvas.
The morning will consist of introductions, a short discussion of artistic principles, followed by a
painting demonstration by Todd.
After a lunch break, we will work from our own photographs in the studio, with individual critique and advice given along the way, setting you up for a successful, atmospheric, finished painting.
